Hi everyone,
Sorry if this has already been answered before. I recently got a second hand iphone 3 (8gb) from my partner's sister. I've never had an iphone before so I don't really know what I'm doing with them and she's been too busy to help so I thought I'd try get some answers here. It was on the 3 network (I live in Australia) but apparently she paid $30ish to get it unlocked. When I insert my optus sim card however the following message appears "No SIM card installed" - "Insert a valid SIM with no PIN lock to activate iPhone". The sim is definitely valid so does this mean that its still locked to the 3 network?
What should I do from here, is jailbraking an option in this case and how would I go about doing so if it is?
Thanks for your time.

Perform a quick search on the forum about jail breaking iPhone 3G. Once the jailbreak is done, look for ultrasnow in cydia to unlock the phone.
