No Sound...iPhone Seems To Think Headphones Are Connected! AAARGH!

Hi Guys,

Me and my wife have new iphone4's for about a week now and all has been good....

but today my wifes phone has gone into silent mode...

i have reset it a few times and still the same..

if i adjust the volume buttons on the side i get the message "ringer (headphones)

if i am on a call and adjust the volume buttons i get the message (headphones)

we have never connected headphones to it...so i tried connecting the hedphones a couple of times...but no difference..

when my wife was at the gym and she returned to her locker...when she got her iphone there was a message on the phone "this device not compatible"

Any ideas Guys?

is her iphone Broken

Have you rebooted it? After that i would restore it as a new phone and see if you still have the problem. After that i would call apple you may have a defective dock connector/headphone jack.

i am currently downloading os4.1 so cannot restore until the download is complete....only 89mins to go!
