Numbers under your name in Twitter

I notice some twitter users have numbers under their names, I too have one and I'm not sure what it means. It start with a hash tag and then a bunch of numbers. Can anyone explain it for me what it means? I notice my number in iphone for example but nothing through my PC.

Its the number you are outta everyone that has an account in twitter so your number whatever it says on your account out of all the people in twitter

^ Oh, so it's like an ID number then? I thought they where location coordinates.

Well can I turn them off so that no one see them? Just out of protection for my privacy.

It's not a privacy thing it's just showing your for example your number 100,097,6567 that has joined twitter
