MacRumors reports that according to a tweet from iOS developer Guilherme Rambo, who has been digging around in source code, it looks like Apple might be getting round the lack of a physical home button to activate Siri by having users hold down the Sleep/Wake button if they don’t want to use the “Hey Siri” voice command.
When musing on Twitter about whether or not Apple might have moved some Home button functionality to the Sleep/Wake button, and bearing in mind that the new S/W button looks to be noticeably larger than previously, Rambo explained to a follower that he had found something in Apple’s code that hinted that it might be possible to activate Siri by holding the button in question.
Rambo was not specific about the code he was referring to, but he has previously had success in finding details about Apple products in beta software code, such as the recently leaked HomePod firmware that revealed many secrets about the forthcoming OLED iPhone.
