Earlier this year, the Pebble Time broke Kickstarter records yet again, gaining a little over $20.3 million from nearly 80,000 backers. While the Pebble Time doesn't track your heartrate, nor does it have a Retina display like the Apple Watch, it does support both Android and iOS as well as sporting a battery that should last up to a week.
The Pebble Time is a huge improvement from the original Pebble watch. The design of the watch housing has changed significantly, looking a little more like a final product, along with the upgrade to a color display. The Time still sends all notifications right to the wrist and supports all apps and watchfaces of previous generations.
Personally, other than supporting Android users, it seems the company that arguably started the smartwatch craze might be in a bit of trouble. However the Pebble Time is nearly half the price of the Apple Watch, making the $199 price something to think about when buying gifts for family or friends. What ever the case, the Pebble Time can now be pre-ordered at Best Buy with an estimated shipping date in July.
