Trader Joe's is one of the biggest American chains of specialty grocery stores, with a a total of 418 locations. According to a fresh report from 9to5Mac publication, it seems that the chain is preparing to accept Apple Pay in its stores.
As it turns out, the chain has already started outfitting its checkout lanes with new VeriFone touchscreen which enable support for wireless payments with Apple Pay. At the moment Trader Joe’s is not yet listed on Apple’s website, but this could soon change.
Apple Pay is officially supported at 78 merchants, grocery stores, clothing retailers, and sports arenas. Trader Joe's could join other grocery store chains like Whole Foods, Dick's Fresh Market, Winn-Dixie, Bi-Lo, Food Maxx, Lucky, Meijer, Sprouts, and more.
