Hi, current iPhone X user myself but my mother in law uses a 6s and loves the portrait mode on the X.

I was wondering which was the best app to replicate that effect? I don't mind paying for the app, but not a subscription or anything. Would want it to be in the frame as the photo is taken, rather than editing photos.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I am a iPhone 6 user and I hardly ever turn my iPhone sideways so i guess it’s always portrait mode.

To get the bokeh effect of Portrait Mode with an iPhone, she’d need a camera with two lenses. It will be difficult to get this effect just by shooting the photos. It’s more likely she’ll have to edit the images after taking them.

However, here are a few suggestions she might try:
Tadaa SLR by menschmaschine Publishing GmbH
‎Tadaa SLR
Bokeh Lens by StudioTIMO
‎Bokeh Lens
Camera+ 2 by LateNiteSoft S.L.
‎Camera+ 2

Thanks from your help, Instagram has a 'Focus' mode but only for stories that achieves the look regardless of iPhone model so the single camera can use software for that look.

In the end DepthShot, a free app, is able to do Portrai-esque photos to good effect. Would recommend.
