Anybody using the Powermat charging system?

I bought one last year as a gift and got one for myself this week.

But.......visiting BestBuy a couple days ago, I was told they don't sell them anymore "because nobody uses them".

Anybody?

I've thought about it but I would have to take my otter box off to put the charge case on. Not worth the hassle in my opinion. Maybe if I wasn't so hard on phones I could get away with it.

I have checked them out and I personally think they are not worth it (for me).

First off..you have to buy the accessory case to put on your phone so it absorbs the charge from they matt...which aren't exactly cheap..

It depends on how many devices you or you and your family carry. Having a central charging point in your home that powers all your devices makes sense......no more searching for the correct cord. But keep in mind that the cases add weight, bulk and price to your devices. So for day to day use, it’s somewhat of a trade off.

For travel, there are two things to consider. First, there’s outlet availability. You should literally weigh the wireless charger versus the power cables. I would rather carry a box adapter with multiple types of ports.

It just depends on your situation...and...the matt..does technically provide wireless charging but the mat itself needs to be plugged in.

I just don't think it's worth it to add the extra bulk to my device just so I can set it down on mat to charge it.

Cost: The first one I bought cost about $50. The one I just bought cost $12.. shipped.

I know you can buy cheaper ones, but you get what you pay for. Gonna have to spend around $60-$100 to charge a device like an iPhone. Don't l know that for sure but I think so.

To charge a smart phone you want the one th has the most power.

A Powermat is a Powermat. The $50.00 one is the same as the $12.00 one. I got the A$12.00 one on Ebay, new in a sealed box. It's for the iPhone 3gs.

Good point...forgot about discount websites like eBay and Amazon.

Like I said...it practical for some while not for others.

I'm not saying they are junk or not worth it...just that they are not worth for some..like myself.
