Pre-order from Apple or from VZW?

If you order from Verizon.com, does that mean VZW will be shipping the phone out and if order from apple.com, does that mean Apple will be shipping the phone out? Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

My understanding is that you have to pre-order on VZW and not apple. But earlier I read mainly apple is handling most of the launch and they will be shipping the phones

A rep at the Apple Store here told me that we could pre-order at the store on February 3 for pick-up at there on the 10th.

Okay well if so I may just do that because I have class at 1 that day so I'm afraid of missing the delivery. It would be nice to go get my phone before class. Could you get anymore info?

apple released a statement today about preorderingon the 3rd. everyone else can preorder on the 9th for in store pick up on the 10th. I want to know if I preorder tonight through apple.com if I can select in store pick up. I don't want to miss the delivery and I am ok with waiting in line before heading off for work or what not.
