Problem responding to texts

Hi everyone!

My husband has an iPhone 4 and is having an issue with responding to texts. While he is in the message screen, he can't tap the area to respond to the text. He said he has to go to the contact through the address book and tap the "Send Message" button. He's restarted the phone, (but not reset it to factory settings). To my knowledge he isn't having any other issues with the phone. I doubt he has upgraded the system either. Any ideas on what is going on, or what we can do to fix it?

Try a hard reset. Press and hold both the power and sleep buttons together simultaneously. If you see the screen shutter or hear the shutter sound, then you just took a screen capture and slightly mistimed the simultaneous touch. Press and hold both buttons until you see the Apple logo on your screen and release both and let it boot. Then see if it's fixed
