Problem with email autocomplete (autofill)

Hi everybody and thanks in advance.
I have sucessfully set up my yahoo mail account on my iphone 3GS (iphone mail client). Problem is, whenever I try to add a recipient to a new message, autocomplete won't work. I know for a fact that this should work without syncing the address book because a friend has set up his gmail account on his iphone, and autocomplete for his gmail contacts works flawlesly. So what is it that I have to do to get autocomplete to read my yahoo contacts?

Perhaps I don't understand clearly, but are those Yahoo contacts in your iPhone's "Contacts" app? Or are those Yahoo contacts located elsewhere, somehow? The iPhone's mail program is set to work with the Contacts app flawlessly, always. And again, perhaps I don't understand exactly what your situation is...
