Hi, just bought a new new iPhone 4. The first thing I did was to try my bluetooth device. The phone seems to be only searching but not finding any device. Surprisingly my laptop and other devices which have Bluetooth recognize each other but my phone doesn't. Can someone help

I had this problem with the iPhone 4 well I say problem it's not a problem it's us. What you have to do is put what ever you're pairing your device with on search mode then click search mode on your iPhone too and then it'll let you pair up. You have to do this with everything you want pairing with the iPhone. Make the other device in pairing mode 1st! I think its a way to keep your phone out of constantly being in search mode like all other phones thus saving on ones battery. Neat idea if we all knew it existed when we're new to a phone! Anyways try that and see how you get on. I've paired my pc, tom-tom and hands free car kit to this now with no problems. I found it out by reading the manual also built into the phone lol

Apple just replaced my iPhone 4. I had no problem pairing with other Bluetooth devices with my old phone, however, I am unable to pair up to those devices with the new phone. My SO's phone can see my iPhone but not vice a versa. Suggestions

I recently upgraded to 4 and none of my Bluetooth devices are pairing. Even searching with another iPhone 4 alongside, with both searching, neither finds the other? I am in South Africa if that makes any difference.

Hi there, my son is having a similar issue where his Bluetooth just continuously searches. I thought his iPhone would have found mine at least but it doesn't, even when mine is on?
Is his the same issue ? What can I do?
Thanks

iPhone 4 will not find any Bluetooth unless the device you want to pair with is also in search mode at the same time

When I try to find my iPhone with my sons, neither his nor mine both in search mode can see each other. It's really odd. I fear I will have to take it back...

Try finding something else first like say a pc or Tom Tom or another type of phone and if the iPhone finds these then yes it'll be the phone that needs looking at....

Thanks, I have. I am really starting to believe it's the phone. It doesn't find anything......just searches

The iPhone isn't able to pair with other devices, except Bluetooth headsets.

Untrue mines paired with the Tom-tom the laptop and the cars built in hands free. But as I've kept saying in order to pair it to each device I had to put each device into pairing mode prior to putting the iPhone into search mode!

Cool I didn't know that.

I normally would have to agree with you, however, my SO's phone can find the two bluetooth devices that I am unable to pair with, AND, I was able to pair with these devices with my original iPhone 4. This tells me there is something wrong with the replacement iPhone 4 I received. :(

Then you've answered your own question. You should take it back and inform them off your problem. Keep us updated
