Problems with the Facebook App

I have already contacted the Facebook Team but they were of no help. I even spoke to a "Genius" at the Apple Store and he said to get a new phone! Here's my story. I've had Facebook App for almost 2 years and it was always very slow and froze often. Posting photos took forever but it worked. I have the older iPhone 3Gs. Recently, a notice appeared to Update the Facebook App. I did so but the App just disappeared from my phone. The icon still remains on my Homepage but upon clicking, nothing ever loads. I tried to delete the App and re-load it but a message says it was already installed. So here I am without the App. I've Updated other Apps, such as Flickr, and had no such problems. Any advise? Thanks.

Delete the app. Then reboot/respring your device and re-install. It might be that your device needs an iOS upgrade if anything
