What is push??

It's the ability an application have to detect new event and inform you about it. Let say that you just receive a new email, your email push will detect the new email the moment it arrive in your mail box, without waisting time, push will give you a notification on your home screen or lock screen about that new email. Same goes for many other apps like facebook, yahoo messenger etc... Including many news/tv apps.

Is there a setting where I can disable push notifications? When starting an ap, I say no to them, but I read somewhere to disable them to conserve battery life.

Go to settings> notifications/\ turn off/on the notifications
