Now that iPhone 4 is here games developers are starting to release games specifically tailored for its enhanced specs, as well as updates to existing games designed to take full advantage of its capabilities. One of the very first to do so is Firemint, which has today released a free update for its multi-award winning iPhone game Real Racing, which is designed to take full advantage of the iPhone 4 and iOS 4s new features.
The game has been enhanced with stunning new graphics, as you can see from these screenshots, which are made possible by the iPhone 4s Retina display. The cockpit view has been updated to be even more realistic with additional detail. Trackside environments have more richly detailed graphics.
The iPhone 4s A4 processor and additional optimisations possible with iOS 4 ensure a smooth framerate. For those who dont yet have an iPhone 4, the iPhone 3GS and third-generation iPod touch will also enjoy smoother graphics thanks to the new anti-aliasing, so long as they're running iOS 4.
Real Racing is already one of the most acclaimed racing games on any handheld, and was recently honoured with an Apple Design Award for setting the standard for quality and console-like performance and capabilities on the iPhone. It was also voted Slide to Plays Game of the Year and IGNs iPhone Racing Game of the Year, and thats even before todays update!
If you dont already have the game and think it might look good on your new iPhone 4, you can download it for $4.99 from the Apple iTunes App Store.
