I have read several really strong statements saying that deleting apps from the list of recently accessed "dormant" apps doesn't free up any extra memory and is pointless. But when the dormant app is a navigation tool or dependent upon updating GPS information you can be sure it will continue to do its thing in background. Same goes for timer apps. Since there necessarily is memory being used for this, shutting down such apps completely will both save battery use and free up memory. Why is this common sense view so strongly dismissed as a wrong headed myth? There also has to be SOME memory being used to store exactly what was being done at the moment the app went dormant, just so as to be sure that it wakes up in the same state. So what gives?
