receiving and sending text messages with no cellular signal

Hello, hopefully you guys can help me with this. i live in the country and have no at&t signal when at home but i am able to send and recieve texts from one of my contacts but not the others.....any ideas why? Thanks for your input

imessage......figured it out....thanks

Yeah iMessage and it's because even though you do not have network signals you are connected to you a wifi and so you can use iMessage.
