Restore from backup?

I tried restore from back up but somehow my disc space is low and could not restore. I deleted all my games and got 10gb. I managed to restore and used 4gb. My question. How can I clear up some space within iTunes and where did the 4gb go after restore? I cleaned up so much files and could not even generate 2 gb.
