Rovio Announces Angry Birds Star Wars!

In a marriage made in video gaming heaven, Rovio today announced Angry Birds Star Wars, which will be coming to iOS, Android, Mac and PC on November 8, as well as the inevitable cavalcade of merchandising, including plush toys, and fancy-dress costumes. Reporting on the announcement, The Independent says that the game will feature all of the most iconic Rebel Alliance characters represented as Angry Birds, with the pigs as the evil Galactic Empire, lead by blackbird Darth Sidious. Gameplay will be based on the gravity physics of Angry Birds Space, and levels will have themes based on famous Star Wars scenes, such as Luke’s home planet Tatooine and the ice planet Hoth. The soundtrack will also be Star Wars-themed. The Independent says that the famous Angry Catapult will be replaced by a lightsaber-style flinging device. The game will be launched with great fanfare in Times Square, New York, on November 8 at 10:00 am Eastern time. You can also expect lots of fantastically fun trailers, just like the one at the top of the post, in the lead up to the game’s launch.
