Auto3G is a $5.99 tweak in Cydia that will save you loads of battery for the cost. This will allow your 3G radio, that likes to drain quite a bit of battery, to turn off while your phone is locked for a certain amount of time. Right when you turn your phone back on for usage, your 3G network comes back on instantly.
