Screen won't turn off

I have an iPhone SE which I guess is kind of the equivalent of an 11. All of a sudden the screen will not turn off. I have had this phone for about 6-8 months. I have tried to research how to set screen time out times but have found nothing that makes sense. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at Settings - Display & Brightness - Auto-Lock. Is it set to “Never”?

You need to set to a certain number of minutes so that it will turn off automatically.

Thanks. As I said, I have had this phone for about 6-8 months and never touched that setting. I can't imagine how it changed yesterday.
