Shocked to discover...

Turns out after the latest update I can no longer use the Apple Store app on my phone. I have updated the app to the latest version compatible with my iOS (5.1.1) and I get this...

It is requiring me to update my iOS to use the Apple Store, now that isn't nice at all.

BAD APPLE!!!!!

I wanted to look for fitness options, can't spend money if you can't get in the store.

Which device are you on, and is it on iOS 5.1.1?

Apple now allows users of devices that are not on the current iOS version to download the latest version of an app compatible with the iOS version currently on the device. Try deleting and re-downloading the Apple Store app to see if it works for you, after all, you've got nothing to lose at this point.

Thanks for the tip. It did allow me to download the old version after telling me it would, no joy though, still no store access. I'll do it from the iPad.

Maybe it's really necessary to upgrade now. This is kinda weird, my friend hasnt upgraded yet still she didnt receive this message

It's maybe because your device is no longer compatible with the apps in the App Store that are for iOS 7 and later OS versions than what you run. The apps would not work well on your phone. The only way around that would be to update to a compatible iOS operating system. I think you said you were on 5.1.1. Try to at least update to iOS 6.1.3. That should get you access to the App Store.
