Hello. My iPhone has a faulty lock button; it is very difficult to lock. Basically it's stuck. I also have a faulty home button, its really unresponsive.
I have an appointment to take my iPhone to a genius on Saturday, to get a replacement. However, my iPhone is jailbroken. I haven't tampered with it AT ALL, just jailbroke it, installed a few apps, deleted them, and basically have nothing on there now instead of cydia. I have an iPhone 4 on ioS 5.

My question is: I know I should restore it if Im taking it to Apple. However, Im scared of bricking it and it not working at all, as I have to restore and update. Will it be okay to restore and update? Should I just leave it hoping the genius people won't find out it's jailbroken?
My plan was to restore it on Saturday morning and then if something DOES happen, just take it to them in the afternoon and say it died on me, lol.

What should I do? Leave it, or do you think it's okay to restore?

Thanks :)

I would first do a clean wipe and then the restore. That should make it easier on iTunes...set up as a new phone.
Whatever you do, don't take it in there jailbroken and expect to get a replacement phone.
Good luck.

I have to agree w/ OJ. Never take your iPhone to the Apple store that's JB w/ intentions on them replacing or doing work on it. Restore via iTunes as a new device.

Thanks, I will definitely restore it. If it does get bricked or something, will I be able to take it in and say it bricked whilst updating to 5.0.1 or something?

Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your help.

Please make sure you enter DFU mode before restoring or you will have problems.

And if you do find that you want to take it to the Apple store, then you really need to update to the latest iOS. Meaning do not restore to 5.0.1 via a custom IPSW.

The Apple Store guys will deny your service if you do not restore, setup as new, and did not restore to the latest version of iOS
