SMS attachments are no longer viewable amd is now black?

I have a few SMS threads that have pictures in them.
I've noticed that I cannot view the pictures anymore. Some pictures show up and the rest are black.

For example:

I open the entire thread.
I have 5 pictures in the SMS thread.
The first 4 will not be viewable but the last one will be.

When I click on the arrow I can view all 5 pictures but the screen is black.

Did I lose the pictures?

I've also noticed that the little circle with the arrow seems "smushed" on the pictures that are not viewable and the ones that are viewable the circle is a circle.

Any ideas?
