SMS background size

I set up a SMSBackground.png theme for my SMS background but I'm downloading the wrong image size. You tube vids say just download a wallpaper sized for an iPhone but when in SMS it is zoomed in a million % and looks pixely. So what size image do I need for a non pixelized hd SMS background?

480 x 480 for standard and 960 x 960 for @2x

You can't just use a standard wallpaper because SMS can be viewed in portrait or landscape mode.
