Speaker dock not recognizing one iPhone, but does the other

Hi all - I am new to this forum. Thought I would come here as it seems you all are very helpful. My wife and I both have iPhones. About a month back we purchased a Memorex speaker dock - it's a very nice model and produces clear, crisp sound. One problem though, this dock recognizings my wife's iPhone, but does not recognize mine. We both do not use cases or bumper shields so nothing is keeping the phones from being fulling inserted in the dock. Mine will charge on it, but will not play at all - in fact, the dock will indicate that no iPhone is present, but with my wife's it works just fine.

Has anyone heard of this happening. Is there a fix that you know of?
