Split screen on macbook

Good evening to all.
I have a MacBook air 2017. Been looking into having the split screen method.
I managed to get it working okay with two safari pages open side by side okay, But can't get the side by side setup to work on having two document pages open is it possible for that or is it just for safari method.
Many thanks once again. PS Yesterday I went and installed the latest ios Mojave.

Not supported for two (word) documents (not all applications are supported for split screen depending on the version) ... Make them PDFs and then split screen.

You may be able to just open a second instance of the word processor and tile the two
