Young people have always been drawn by Apple’s gadgets and now a new study backs that up once more. Piper Jaffray analyst, Gene Munster, who is always passionate about Apple, found out during a survey conducted on 7,700 US teenagers that the iPhone and iPad are growing in popularity among young consumers.

According to the report’s latest data, 55 percent of the questioned teenager currently own an iPhone, which is an increase from last year’s 40 percent. When asked about buying a new phone, 65 percent said that an iPhone is going to be their next purchase. When it comes to the iPad, the numbers are just as impressive. 68 percent of the teens that said they have a tablet own an iPad. 52 percent of those that are looking to buy a tablet in the next six months said they are getting an iPad. Even more, almost three quarters of the youngsters said that they will choose an iPad over other competing tablets such as the Kindle Fire HD or the Galaxy Note II.

Mister Munster said:

Our most recent semi-annual Teen survey demonstrates that Apple remains the most popular tech brand amongst teens. As of Fall 2013, the iPhone represented nearly 55% all phones used by teens and the iPad family remained at close to 70% share of tablet ownership. We believe that while Samsung seemingly had some momentum with teens over the past year, Apple's brand and product quality has enabled it to remain the top choice for teen consumer electronics. Young customers are actually very important for Apple because there are high chances of them remaining customers of the upcoming years. Probably launching the smaller iPad Mini and the colorful iPhone 5c is part of Apple’s strategy to keep teens allured by the Cupertino brand.

not surprising. apple has become a cult. a luxury brand. people get it just to have. not saying they arent good devices, but kids are not cool if they dont have an iphone or an ipad. my uncle bought his 4 year old daughter an ipad when she dont even know how to use it.
