Switch wife's iPhone

I have an iPhone 6 and my wife has an iPhone 5. Mine is under contract and hers is not. I am considering changing hers to Verizon. We travel often and while AT&T has good coverage in town, it often has no coverage when in the country. Friends with Verizon often can use their phones when we can't. If we have at least one phone with another carrier, that might work. Any thoughts on two plans?

I guess if you have money to burn instead why don't you get the phone unlocked and look for one of those prepaid plans that uses verizons towers

Don't have money to burn. Name's not Trump! Anyway did switch wife's phone to Verizon and she's delighted. Drove to an area we frequent where I had no coverage and she did. She's happy and so am I.
