Text/message page not responding

With no warning my A4 will not delete text messages from the text message page. When you slide your finger to the right to alert the "delete" it flashes on then disappears immediately and there seems to be no way to remove the message. even after going to "edit" and deleting the text the message line with sender is there.

Exit the text message app then double tap the home button. Then close the app from your multitasking bar. Hopefully that should fix it...
