Text message question

Having just backed up & installed latest software on my iPhone 4 I've noticed some of my texts appear in blue & I know people who have sent me messages & I've not recieved? Can anyone help please?

the messages in blue are the ones that have sent with Imessage so if the person you are sending to is not on ios 5 and does not have imessage then that is why they dont receive it...

or you could tap on settings > messages > and turn imessage off if you dont know many or any people on ios to save you sending those blue messages.
