text message with sound

why is it when someone sends me a text with the animation the sound clip is seperate and you have to go into that, its sure different than my droid. does anyone know how to fix this or is there a different app that can replace the messages app that uses my own number as i have unlimited text?

you will be able to find text message apps only if you jailbreak your iPhone, and even so, i think that those apps you will get after jail breaking your iPhone will behave the same as the stock app when it comes to MMS.

How do i jailbreak my phone and does this do anything to the phone....will it work the same after? i am new at all this

Jailbreak will allow you to root into the phone, you will be able to install tweaks/apps found in cydia into the phone. However, there is no jailbreak for the 4S ATM.
