Texting Numbers Not In Contacts

Hi,
Somebody calls me who's not in my contacts. I don't want to talk to them but just send a text. When the phone is in phone mode, I can't copy the #, It will just dial it. Obviously this approach goes nowhere. Any way around this issue? Secondly: Is there an app like "Notes" where the icon shows how many notes you have as a reminder?

To text them go to the number in most recent and press on the arrow on the far right and it will give you an option to text or call.
