I've read about the reasons for the change in cable but I have to tell you it really pisses me off that all my old cables are now redundant and that I now have to go out and replace them. Between the home and office I have four spare cables, all of which now need replacing. That seriously sucks. Not only is there a 3 week lead time from Apple for delivery of these cables but the cost for two cables is 35 quid (including £4.50 postage!). There is no justifiable reason why Apple shouldn't have these in stock but instead offer a 3 week lead time on delivery - which means until such time I have to carry around - and REMEMBER to carry around - the bloody cable.
Having just forked out a small fortune for the phone itself, I resent the additional cost and inconvenience of having to buy new spare cables. I'm sure this is a nice little earner for Apple, but IMHO it's one which is going to cost them in the long run.
