TIME magazine posted an article recently in which they detailed the 50 most influential gadgets of all time, and you can probably guess which gadget made the top of their list... yep, the article title gave it away, but you would have guessed the iPhone anyway, right?
TIME magazine's editors said the iPhone "fundamentally changed our relationship to computing and information." They elaborated,
"Apple was the first company to put a truly powerful computer in the pockets of millions when it launched the iPhone in 2007. Smartphones had technically existed for years, but none came together as accessibly and beautifully as the iPhone.
Apple's device ushered in a new era of flat, touchscreen phones with buttons that appeared on screen as you needed them, replacing the chunkier phones with slide-out keyboards and static buttons."
Of course, a number of obvious gadgets made the list as well, including the Macintosh, Blackberry 6210, Motorola Droid, Google Glass, Fitbit, Amazon Kindle, Oculus Rift, the Sony Walkman amongst 41 other tech toys. There were a few surprising devices on the list, like the Yamaha Clavinova Digital Piano and the Jerrold Cable Box, but for the most part, every gadget chosen seems obvious when you read it.
