Luckily rumors of a second-generation Apple Watch being unveiled soon have been floating around for a few months. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims in a note to investors that Apple will be switching to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for the 'S2' system-in-package.
TSMC's 16-nanometer process technology works by making smaller transistors, allowing the chip smaller while improving the chip's processing speed and battery efficiency.
Apple's S2 chip is rumored to be used in the upcoming Apple Watch 2. However the report claims that our favorite fruit company will be using the same chip in an upgraded version of the first-generation Apple Watch, expected to come out of its shell in the second-half of 2016.
