The video ads are similar to those Facebook rolled out back in September 2013. Users scrolling through their Twitter feeds will now find videos autoplaying somewhere in between tweets. The videos will have the volume muted by default, although a user can tap on the video and opt in for audio.
"We’re running a small test on a few variations on the video playback experience", confirmed a Twitter spokesperson. The company however did not mention whether autoplay ads will roll out to the masses, or if they will even be used in the future.
