Twitter announced today that it has updated its iPhone app with improvements to discover, search and notifications. First up we have Activity, which is a new feature that has been added to the Discover tab, and which shows a stream of updates that tell you Tweets that have been favourited or retweeted by the people that you followe, as well as showing you what accounts they follow. All you have to do to access the new feature is go to Discover, tap a story once to see Tweets about relevant trends or news articles, then you can either read the whole story, or reply, retweet or favourite related tweets.
Up next in the update we have the Search function, which Twitter says has been simplified in the update, with it now providing suggestions for alternate spellings of a word, as well as related terms. Also, when you now use Connect to find someone, when you start typing their first or last name, or their username, if its someone that you follow, the name will autocomplete for you. If you like, you can then go directly to that persons profile. You will also find that if you tap the Search box in Discover, your most recent queries will appear.
Last, but not least, we have push Notifications, which will let you know when your Tweets get retweeted or favourited, or when someone new starts following you. If you dont want to be bothered by all those push notifications, youll also be able to turn them off of course.
