txt convo's being split between imessage and text?

Only happens with one person that I text.

- Sometimes texts go through as iMessage, sometimes it sends as regular text
- Sometimes it allows me to send an iMessage, but takes a while to deliver and ends up going through as a regular texts
- responses to texts and iMessages are very delayed. She doesnt reply to my texts for like 5-10 minutes sometimes but says she is replying right away.

Have you noticed if this happens while connected to wifi or not? I wonder if it's a carrier issue i.e. in or out of a 3G zone....hmmmmmm

your picture looks exactly like an iMessage conversation I had with my wife. I believe messages that are destined for another iPhone running iOS 5 are designated as iMessage and are therefore exempt from normal carrier per-text charges. I tested this by sending a text to an owner of a Pre3, and it indeed was NOT designated "iMessage"

Just keep in mind that outgoing iMessage messages will probably have a blue background (as in your picture) and outging message to all other phones will still have a green background.
