unlocked ATT and T Mobile iPhone 7 and 7 plus not compatible with verizon

I just got iPhone 7 plus jet black on ATT. I am thinking of switching to Verizon, my phone is unlocked on apple plan.I checked with verizon they checked and said my phone in not compatible with verizon even though it is unlocked. I checked with Apple care people they say iPhone 7 and 7 plus on ATT and T mobile are not compatible with any other carriers, 6 and 6 plus were compatible. If you are on Apple upgrade plan get the verizon sprint phones because they can be used with GSM chips.
