I own an iPhone 4 running 4.0.1 and baseband 01.59.00. I want to update my iOS to something newer but don't want to loose my unlock. Is there a way to do this? I'm not new to the iphone and its greatness but I'm by no means a pro! Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

If you update yoir phone, you will 100% lose your jailbreak and your unlock, your only go here is that you make sure that you will be able to jailbreak again and unlock the device right after upgrading your iOS.
And yes your baseband is supported by ultrasnow so that you will be able to unlock, but you will have to perform all the jailbreaking process again.

Use Sn0breeze 2.7.1 and iOS 4.3.3.. There is a baseband preservation mode in that program.

Its smart to keep that baseband.

if you use pwnage tool or sn0wbreeze you can upgrade while keeping the same baseband and go through the process of jailbreaking and unlocking with ultrasn0w
