Usage Display

I am new to the iPhone and just wanting to make sure mine is working right.
When you go to settings/ General / Usage you get a reading "Usage" and one for "Standby". Mine just and "-" for both when I got the phone. Apple told me I had to let phone fully discharge and then recharge to get this to read properly. I did that and then it did track properly. But then last night I powered the phone off and this morning when I powered back up it is back to "-".

Is this normal. Will the phone only track from fully discharged and recharged and then only until you turn the phone off again??

Just want to make sure nothing wrong with my phone.

No it shouldn't be back to "-" actually i've never saw that sign in the usage panel.

It will if you turn the phone off. I called Apple and they confirm this is normal
