The Wall Street Journal reports today that they have had official confirmation from Verizons chief operating officer, Lowell McAdam, that Verizon will be offering $30 unlimited data plans to iPhone 4 customers.
Im not going to shoot myself in the foot, McAdam told The WSJ, adding that if the company failed to offer an unlimited data plan, they might be deterring customers who would otherwise have wanted to defect to Verizon from AT&T. Although AT&T moved to a tiered pricing plan last year for new customers, they still have many millions of customers who are benefiting from unlimited data bundles until their current contract runs out, and who would therefore expect the same if they moved to Verizon. However, this unlimited data offer wont last forever, unfortunately, as McAdam also revealed to The WSJ that it would only be temporary, and that the company would soon be following AT&Ts lead and adopting tiered data plans.
