Verizon has just posted recent data concerning the numbers of activations for the fourth quarter of 2012. According to these numbers, we see that the company managed to activate 6.2 million iPhone in the holiday quarter. The total amount of activations the carrier saw In Q4 was 9.8 million, so the Apple smartphone managed to snatch two thirds of that, thus performing beautifully.
Basically, the iPhone still remains the device of choice for most customers opting for a two-year contract not only with Verzion but also with Sprint and AT&T. Topeka Capital Analyst, Brian White, noted this week that information gathered from the last six quarters indicate that Verizon has sold 11% of the total number of items shipped by Cupertino. If the percents hold up for the holiday season, this might mean that the tech giant managed to sell a massive 56 million iPhones.
In a different camp, ISI Groups, Brian Marshall, stated that the numbers posted by Verizon are compatible with his forecast of Apple selling 48 million iPhones in the last quarter of 2012. RBC Capital Markets Amit Daryanani also made a similar prediction, placing the total number of sold units at 46 million. Apple is yet to make its quarterly earnings conference call, so we will know for sure in a little while. However, the company doesnt usually showcase the numbers for the different versions of the device.
