verizon iphone4/5 question

I was considering buying a verizon iphone4.....is the jailbreak tethered or untethered? Or wait and, will it be possible to jailbreak the 5th one? Just curious.

Verizon iPhone is 4.2.6... I have the Vi4... I love it, but you're so close.. wait a few more months, the i5 will be coming
