voicemail custom greeting

I've recorded and saved a custom voicemail greeting for my iphone 4 and I can play it back when I hit play but when I call my number and it goes to voicemail the default greeting kicks in. Any idea why?

Try, calling your voicemail and record it that way. Call by holding down the 1 key on the keypad until it dials.
