Wallet - Credit Card error

I can see my credit card in the XR wallet. But it won't 'pop open for use.

Does it give you an error message? Or do you just try to pay with your Apple Wallet, and you're unable to select it as a card?

Stayed in the shop yesterday tapping away. It finally opened. Then after several attempts in next shop it opened.
No other app or tapping commands are recalcitrant. Just the Wallet.
At least now there is a fair chance I won't be embarrassed when I step up to purchase something.
