Whenever I sync my 4S to my PC, it shows that it's copying a file called "Mr Tambourine Man". Anyone know what this is? The file copy is pretty much instant, and my 4S is not jailbroken. I'm using iOS6, but it also happened with iOS 5.1.1 previously.

I never downloaded it, never paid for it, never heard of it before. It doesn't even show up in my App list for my phone.

Doing a google search for "iphone tambourine" comes up with nothing. It's weird!

That is a song by Bob Dylan. Check your music playlist.

Dylan wrote it. The Byrds had the big hit with the electric version.

I think it's kind of funny, no offense to the OP if you are a young man you may have never heard it or didn't realize what it was. I would say everybody over 40 probably knows it.

Music lovers under 40 know it too :-)

Thanks for all replies, but I don't have that song on my iPhone, which makes it all the more mysterious. I thought it was an app name at first. [Edit] BTW, I'm 42, so I do know the song. ;)

oh that is a puzzle then, maybe someone will know the answer though.....i googled it as an app and nothing came up,just the song.

Have you tried a search on your iPad for that file name......or a file search on your PC?

Okay, figured it out - I do actually have a file called "The Byrds - Mr Tambourine Man.mp3" on my PC. I always just looked for "Bob Dylan - Mr Tambourine Man.mp3" before, which is why I never saw it in the "T" file area.

But, that creates another question: why is this particular song always synced when I do a sync, when none of my other ones do?

have you got the little box ticked or unticked next to that song in iTunes?

All my songs in my iTunes library are ticked, including the Tambourine one. But when I click Sync, that's the only one that gets synced each time.

You need to go to your iOS device and click on the music tab for it specifically. Under that you will find multiple ways to sync music. Some of the ways are by full library, playlist, artist and by song. That is where it is checked off.

Skull, I can't see any syncing areas on my iPhone for it when that song is selected. But anyway, I found the answer on another forum: the ID3 tags were somehow "bad" (although I couldn't see how); so I deleted the tags in iTunes for it, and now it doesn't sync anymore with each sync. Solved! :)

glad about that, now that the problem is solved i will close the thread.
