whats this function at Settings>General>accessibility>L R function below mono audio for?

It haves an L and a R with a slide to move right or left. I was thinking it was for speakers volume balance, but i moved all the way to the left and right but there was no difference in sound.

i guess is for something else

on an iphone 4 i think its for balance in the volume i think as well its to do with if one ear is weeker than the other u can compensate for it open to correction on this
