Why Can't I Sometimes Save to Camera Roll?

Why do I need to email something to myself 1st so that I can save it to my camera roll? Sometimes I double tap the image and it gives me a "Save to camera roll" option & sometimes just a copy (to clipboard) option...what gives? It's annoying having to email myself stuff so why all the extra work sometimes?

When saving to the camera roll, the procedure is to press and hold on the image. That works for me 100% of the time (if the app has permission to access your Photo Album - which is set up in Settings).

Wait - iOS 6 changed the rules. If you have not authorized the app to save to your camera roll, it won't. So, go to your Settings app and find the Privacy tab. Press on it and then go to the Photos tab. Check to make sure the button for that app is ON.

iOS 6 won't let you just save photos any longer - you must authorize each and every app from which you want to save photos.
